Happy New Year!!!

Sadly, I didn't quite make my Goodreads goal of reading 70 books this year. But I was able to read quite a few books that I thoroughly enjoyed. 

Drumroll please!!!

My two favorite books of 2016 were Arcana Rising by Kresley Cole and Wild Swans by Jessica Spotswood.

They are two totally different books. Arcana Rising is book 5 in the Arcana Chronicles series and is a YA paranormal fantasy about a group of teenagers fighting for survival. The main characters are tarot cards come to life with the powers of the card they represent. With just the right amount of angst filled romance thrown in, this series has become one of my all time favorites. 

Wild Swans is a contempory YA novel about a girl anmed Ivy who was raised by her grandfather after her mother abandoned her. When her mother returns, Ivy's world is turned upside down. This book deals with lots of issues including interracial realtionships and gender identity. It is a heartwarming story with relatable characters.
